IRS IS SEEKING TAX EXEMPT GROUPS

    The US Internal Revenue Service is surveying 1300 social welfare, labor unions, and business associations that say they are tax-exempt advocacy groups.  They have never formally requested that designation.  The Tax Man is checking up.  Groups that are unresponsive will lose their charitable status, which can impact donations.

ONLINE GIVING IS UP 21% IN 2012

While the percentage of giving online is up 43%, the share of folks who gave based on email funding dropped by 21%.  For a net increase of 21%.  Civil rights and international development groups saw decrease by non-completion of responses to messages.  Continued non-response from emails, has the effect of reducing the return rate for all emails sent out.  For details on this report  http://e-benchmarksstudy.com

NONPROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS BIG SOURCE OF JOBS

According to the Johns Hopkins University Center for Civil Society Studies nonprofits are a significant and growing sources of jobs and economic activity worldwide.  Counting paid staff and volunteers the study found that nonprofits accounted for 7.4% of the work force in 13 nations for which data was collected.  This percentage was a larger share than other major industries like finance and transportation.
