Begin by examining the new forms volunteering is taking; social change, serendipity, and entrepreneurial. Review the role of episodic volunteering. Define the three kinds of volunteering—supplementing, supporting, or supplanting. Participants then create new positions to attract new volunteers and adjust current positions to be more attractive.
