Legal issues crop up all the time in nonprofits and volunteer programs.  What is often needed is sound legal advice.  While there may be an attorney or two on the governing or advisory board, they know about their specialty; tax, estate, criminal.  Attorneys know those areas well, but rarely nonprofit law.balance bar of justice

Here is a Web site headed by an attorney who specializes in nonprofit law.  In July of 2014 there were articles on such things as a tourist tripping in a nonprofit organization as a fundraiser.  There is an incident and someone is suing the organization.  In another article a spectator at a game assisted the officials. A player ran into the first down marker held by the volunteer.  He sues the organization. Are they liable or is the volunteer?

Other features at this site:

  • Practical tips to reduce the risk of litigation from those with years of experience in nonprofit law.
  • E-newsletter with the latest legal developments.
  • Searchable archive to answer questions 24/7.  There are 100 Ready Reference Pages  to answer some basic questions.
There are webinar presentations. (There are fees for this)
