They are volunteers, too!
The state of New York, like many other states, has had terrible budget problems. The solution: Stop paying nonprofit organizations that deliver services to children, mentally ill, and more. Jayne Cravens, provides insight to how nonprofit boards might be forced to lay-off staff when there is no money coming in and replace those staff with volunteers. Several sources are cited for what a dreadful problem this could cause. Read how this happened in New York, but it could just as easily been Alabama or Oregon.
Jayne has a new blog with continual up-dating on all things volunteer--watch her site for the latest in technology information.
