~May 2011~

O.K., not easy, but manageable.  Do you need a grant to sponsor a special training?  Do you want a big bash for National Volunteer Week 2012?  A small grant might be just the ticket.  Many national companies allow local managers to give away money to charity.  (K-Mart, UPS, Wal-Mart).  Most require a letter outlining the need for the request.  Here, as an attachment, are some tips on writing a grant letter.

  • Keep it to one page.
  • Have someone else read it for clarity.
  • Be succinct!
  • Get the best writer you know to compose.
  • Use active language.
  • Create a summary of the need that is tight and specific
  • Get the grammar police to check before you finalize
