STRATEGIC VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT
The RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at the University of Texas at Austin has a minimalist publication on engaging volunteers. It deals first with myths about volunteers. It hits head on the notion that engaging volunteers, for example, is free. It introduces a concept using the Volunteer Involvement Framework, which is a tool to plot the needs of the organization matched with the time available from volunteers. There is a six step process for creating a vision to engage volunteers and several sections on the steps needed to keep the volunteers that are recruited happy and productive. This is a 35 page booklet that presents a new notion about how to plan the engagement of volunteers. Phone: 512-232-7062 Email: http://www.utexas.edu/lbj/rgk/about/contact.php
