    Boards of directors and advisory committees need to have public relations committees.  There should be a guideline for the activities of this committee.  The board or advisory group should receive regular reports from the public relations committee on efforts to position the organization in the best light with volunteers, paid staff, stakeholders, and clients.  Here are some ideas to improve the PR for your organization.

• Plan a special event
• Have regular open house/tours
• Competitions (poster, safety, health)
• Awards
• Forums/Seminars open to public and media
• Newsletter
• Brochures
• Posters
• Board members write thank you notes to each staff
  • Send greeting cards to volunteers
  • Honor roll of those who serve and are served
  • Pay attention to maintaining an attractive office
  • Recognition to staff who do a good public relations job
  • Celebrate achievements
  • Develop a helping attitude
  • Smile at staff and volunteers
  • Send holiday greetings to staff and volunteers
  • Cooperate with other community agencies
  • Say thank you
  • Look at the situation from the stakeholders perspective
