1. What is the purpose of your current Web site as it relates to volunteers?  Who is your audience? (Current volunteers? Recruit new people?  Information to the public?

2. Who writes content for the Web site?  Who edits the work of the writers?  What is his/her experience in writing for the Web?

 

 

3. Who in your organization has responsibility for maintaining, and updating the portion of the Web site for volunteers?  (Make sure this isn’t just added to an already busy person’s duties.  Web sites need constant attention!  Search engines cannot find you if you never put up new information)

4. Do you have a back-up system for your Web site information? (What happens if the site crashes?  Where is the back up stored?)

 

 

5. Do you know the limit of your server’s      capacity?  (Do you plan to use a lot of       images?  They take a lot of space.  Learn enough to not ask for something the IT person cannot deliver.)

 

  6.  Do you have a budget for Web site maintenance and up dating? (Web writers, designers, etc.)

 

  7. Who in your organization is dealing with legal issues such as: use of logos, trademarks, copyright, and libel?  (If your organization has an attorney, is he/she reviewing the Web site?  Is there an internal group to review the pages?)

  8. Does your organization have style guidelines?  (If everyone in your organization can “do his own thing, it can create a hodgepodge.)
