Association for Volunteer Administration Launches a New Magazine
The Association for Volunteer Administration (AVA) has launched a new magazine, VM, Volunteer Management Magazine. The initial issue has a cover story interview with Arlene Schindler. Her life and career are a testimony to managing volunteers. There are articles on diversity and the role of the manager of volunteers, ethics, and how to begin a fund development program. The magazine is colorful and informative. It is a benefit of membership in AVA. For more information about membership, visit their Web site at http://www.avaintl.org.
It is likely that the coming holiday season will see
an increase in requests for giving, as well as the desire to help out.
The hurricanes in the US, earthquake in Pakistan and Indian, floods in
Bulgaria, took their toll on the finances, if not the buildings of many
charities in the affected area. Charity Navigator has a web site to provide
people with factual information on making donations. Volunteers in your
organization might be grateful to learn about this site. It has tips on
giving and evaluations of over 5000 nonprofit and charitable organizations.
