Information for Local Government Volunteer Program Managers
Those who manage volunteer services programs in local government often seek salary information. Here are a couple of sites with this information.
Volunteer Services Coordinators in government is not unique to the United States. On the South Coast on New South Wales, in the Local Government Area (LGA) of Eurobodalla, services are provided by volunteers and corrdinated by a government employee. This LGA, with a population of 33,137, encompasses the major centers of Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma, as well as many smaller villages. Responsibilities of the Administration Officer include the coordination of volunteer centers in these cities. It is a full-time position at Grade 10 level under the Local Government Award (about $770 per week before tax). In Sydney, Australia, a paid government volunteer services coordinator works under the Community Development Division of the Department of Community Services. Responsibilities include recruiting and supervising volunteers for two large government areas in Sydney. This coordinator of volunteers work 25 hours a week and earns approximately $30,000 (Australian) a year.

ASSOCIATION
FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT VOLUNTEER MANAGERS SEEKS MEMBERS
The National Association of Volunteer Programs in Local Government (NAVPLG) is an association of administrators, coordinators and directors of volunteer programs in local government. Its purpose is to strengthen volunteer programs in local government through leadership, advocacy, networking and information exchange. NAVPLG is an affiliate of the National Association of Counties and is seeking affiliate status with the National League of Cities. Cost is $20 for individuals and $75 for group local government membership. An affiliate membership is $25 and is intended for those who are not local government members but may have an interest in the group.
